Brussels, 29/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Algeria is willing to work together with the EU for greater involvement of civil society in cooperation between the two partners, according to a press release from the country's national economic and social council following a meeting between Algerian President Mohamed Seghir Babes and the EU representative in Algiers, Marek Skolil. Algeria has been somewhat reticent about this kind of cooperation which is one of the focal points of the action plan under discussion between Brussels and Algiers.
Babes and Skolil shared the conviction that, in particular, it is necessary to consolidate participative democracy still further through sustained involvement of civil society throughout the civil and social dialogue process, the press release states. (FB/transl.jl)
