Charlemagne youth prize 2014 launched

Brussels, 29/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - The selection procedure for the forthcoming Charlemagne European Youth Prize began on 24 October. The deadline for project submissions is 20 January 2014. The prize is jointly organised by the European Parliament and International Charlemagne Prize Foundation in Aachen. It is awarded to projects devised by young people aged between 16 and 30. The projects must young people living in Europe, as well as provide concrete examples of living in a specific community in the EU. Projects selected in previous years include “youth” exchange programmes and artistic and European inspired internet projects. The prize last year was awarded to “Europe on Track”, “Discover Europe” and “The Story of my Life”. The best three projects (chosen out of 28 projects selected by national juries in member states) are awarded €5,000, €3,000 and €2,000, respectively. Project winners will be selected on 10 April 2014 and the prize-giving ceremony will take place on 27 May in Aachen. (IL/transl.fl)
