European satisfaction (welcoming migrants)

Brussels 13/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - In a statement to the local media, Rupert Joy, Ambassador of the EU to Morocco, has reacted favourably to the report on the reception of sub-Saharan migrants in that country, drafted by the CNDH (National Human Rights Council) (see EUROPE 11/09/2013).

He said that he was “extremely satisfied to note that this report recognises the infringements on migrants' rights which have long been of such concern to us”. At the same time, he welcomes the fact that it “makes concrete recommendations in favour of a fairer and more effective migration policy”.

These recommendations, he added, are “in line with the objectives of the 'Partnership for Mobility' signed in June of this year”.r Joy pledges that this partnership “will be accompanied by considerable financial support from the EU and its member states for cooperation projects which may take inspiration from the recommendations of the CNDH”.

Joy said that the “European Union is aware of the complexity of the challenges related to illegal migration with which it is also faced”. (FB/transl.fl)
