Brussels 13/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - The Secretariat General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) has announced its intention to study a series of projects to benefit Egypt in the fields of renewable energies, transport, social development and support for SMEs. Contacts are underway with the various competent Egyptian ministries to examine these projects, a press release confirms.
“It is vital to help Egypt in the current stage”, states the Secretary General of the UfM, Fathallah Sijilmassi, in this declaration, which seems to be of more importance in the message it sends out to Egypt, which previously had a central role in the UfM but which has been put on hold against the difficult backdrop affecting most of the countries of the southern shore and undermining their commitment, with the exception of Morocco and Jordan (co-president of the UfM).
