Brussels, 31/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - Speaking on Twitter, European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström described a British government pilot project for tackling illegal immigration as worrying and “aggressive”. The project involves a poster campaign in certain cities, calling on illegal immigrants to go back to their countries or face arrest. Posters provide a telephone number to ring to obtain information on how to leave. The British government's method is not, however, supported by all members of the Liberal Democrat Party, although the government has reported on BBC said that the method was “working”. Vince Cable, a Liberal Democrat member of David Cameron's government described the scheme as “stupid and aggressive”. (SP/transl.fl)
