Brussels, 15/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 15 July, the EU Council of Ministers adopted without debate amending budget No. 5 on aid of €14.6 million from the EU Solidarity Fund in commitment and payment appropriations to provide financial aid to Slovenia, Croatia and Austria after the floods in October and November 2012. Slovenia will get €14 million, Croatia €286,597 and Austria €240,000.
Torrential rain caused flooding at the end of October and the start of November 2012, when the Save, Kupa, Mur and Drave rivers broke their banks in Slovenia, the Mur, Drave and Lavant rivers in Austria and also flooding in Croatia. The floods damaged public and private buildings, water supply and sewerage infrastructure, companies, farmland and forests. (LC/transl.fl)
