Brussels, 08/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 9 July, the European Parliament's transport committee endorsed the agreement reached in three-way talks on new guidelines for the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) by 34 votes to 7 and 2 abstentions. It will be put to the final vote at the European Parliament plenary in October. The new guidelines are for infrastructure work to complete the core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) by 2030, linking up ports, airports, railway stations and cities via a number of sections (corridors) so that a vast transport grid covers Europe by 2050. Only infrastructure projects that are part of these sections and match the guidelines will be eligible for EU finance. The guidelines set out a policy framework and infrastructure planning for the development of TEN-T infrastructure with a particular focus on EU common interest, interoperability, missing links and bottlenecks.
