01/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - Further rise in eurozone unemployment. Following a period of calm in February, March and April, the unemployment rate in the eurozone went up in May according to the estimates published by Eurostat, the EU's Statistical Office, on Monday, 1 July. Unemployment now stands at 12.1%, a 0.1% rise on the previous month. Across the 27 member states of the European Union, the unemployment rate has been at 10.9% since the beginning of the year. Croatia is above the average, with 16.5%, but, since February this year, unemployment there has fallen. Youth unemployment fell in the EU27 (23%) but rose in the euro zone (23.8%). (JK/transl.fl)
