Brussels, 15/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 14 May, the Council of the EU adopted two decisions on launching the automatic exchange of vehicle registration data (VRD) with Bulgaria and Romania, a press release states, as the two countries have fulfilled the necessary criteria for data protection. Bulgaria and Romania are therefore authorised to receive and transmit data of a personal nature, the Council adds. These measures come within the context of the Prüm decision - the objective of which is to deepen cross-border cooperation between the police and judicial authorities of the countries of the EU so as to fight cross-border crime and terrorism more effectively.
