Brussels, 14/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - During his bilateral meetings with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanichvili, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle underlined that their cooperation is needed for Georgia to be able to conclude negotiations on its association agreement with the EU at the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius at the end of November 2013. “The road between now and the Eastern Partnership Vilnius summit is a historic moment for Georgia to deliver on the major challenges of cohabitation”, Füle said in a press release. “Politicians are expected to find the channels of communication for successfully tackling the most important interests for Georgia - and I believe that the EU agenda is one of them. Pragmatic and value based cohabitation are needed to successfully deliver on Georgia's EU aspirations at the Vilnius summit”, he added.
Füle also stated that Georgia is an example of coherence and commitment on the route of the agreed reforms, and that it should continue on this route despite the difficulties in the cohabitation process. (CG/transl.fl)
