Brussels, 05/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 4 February, Algeria and the EU launched a farm production twinning project. In particular, it aims to create an observatory of the agricultural and agri-food sectors and should “provide practical support for the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture in implementing the policy for the country's agricultural and rural renewal” (our translation throughout), said the EU ambassador to Algiers, Marek Skolil, who attended the ceremony officially launching the project alongside the Algerian minister for agriculture, Rachid Benaissa.
“The project comes within the specific framework of the strategic association agreement between the EU and Algeria in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector”, Skolil said, cited by the Algerian press agency APS. Two European countries are particularly concerned: France and Italy, which are actively involved in the implementation of the partnership which will allow Algerian experts to “benefit from the very great experience acquired by their counterparts” from the two European countries, the EU ambassador said.
