Brussels, 25/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - Austria is to be sent a reasoned opinion by the European Commission asking it to redress and ensure the respect of the principles of non-discrimination and transparency in public procurement cases involving the supply of goods to Austrian ministries. Austria has violated the principle of effective review enshrined in EU Directive 2007/66/EC by pursuing a procurement procedure without changes although some of the tender specifications had been declared discriminatory and therefore void by the national review body. If no measures are notified to put an end to this violation of EU law within two months, the Commission may decide to refer Austria to the European Court of Justice. (MB/transl.fl)
