Brussels, 16/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - The European Air Safety Authority (AESA) is closely following developments linked to technical problems with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which were detected by the electronic systems. It is in touch with the American Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) over these issues.
Following a series of incidents which took place in January (smoke, fires) and an emergency landing in Japan on Wednesday 16 January, the Japanese airlines ANA and JAL decided on the same day to suspend all flights using the Dreamliner. No measures against the Dreamliner have so far been announced in the European Union. However, the AESA is in "constant" contact with the FAA, notably in recent teleconferences, the European agency has confirmed. In the United States, the FAA has opened an investigation into this category of Boeing aircraft and India intends to inspect the Dreamliners owned by Air India. In Europe, Poland's LOT Airlines has also been using this aircraft for several months; it is also flown through the skies of Europe by third-country airlines (ANA, United Airlines). (MD/transl.fl)
