Brussels, 10/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 10 December, in a press release on the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council, Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, welcomes the peaceful way in which the people of Ghana held their presidential elections on Friday 7 September “in an open, transparent and competitive environment”. She also congratulates the president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, as well as the other candidates for their “contribution to the democratic process”, and praises their pledge made in the Kumasi Declaration to uphold peace before, during and after the elections.
