Brussels, 10/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 9 October, the directorate general for agriculture of the European Commission announced that it had launched a call for applications to set up a group of experts on agricultural commodity derivatives and the spot markets. This expert group will be made up of representatives of the member states and professionals active in the agriculture sector or on these markets. The call for applications, which will run until 16 October, aims to select a maximum of 20 professional experts.
The expert group will provide the Commission with consultative opinions in the following areas: - the functioning of the agricultural commodity derivatives and spot markets; - the implementation of the existing EU legislation and policies; - the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives in these fields.
