Brussels, 13/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 10 July, in Tunis, the secretariat general of the UfM (Union for the Mediterranean) inaugurated a series of workshops on “the methods of formulation and presentation of economic projects”. The meeting, organised in cooperation with the Tunisian government, brought together 80 executives and senior officials working in the Tunisian Ministries and public enterprises.
The aim of the workshop was to help formulate feasible projects, for which funding must be found. Funding was the issue that raised the most questions, according to a source in circles close to the organisers of the meeting. On the whole, the same source said, discussion proved very constructive and contributed to improving the way the UfM is perceived and the way it operates. Such workshops are also to take place in the other partner countries, being useful for allowing a better understanding of how the UfM may be used to promote flagship projects.
Contractors looking for funding for their projects are faced with how/where to find that funding and especially what EU procedures must be carried out to qualify for funding. One of the missions that the UfM secretariat general plans to set up is that of providing active assistance to those with projects in order to assist them in extricating themselves from the tangled web of complex procedures, which sometimes only leads to discouragement.
