Brussels, 13/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - The European Union and the United States agreed on Thursday 12 July to work together on the screening of liquids aerosols and gels (LAGs) at EU and US airports. The European Commission's DG Mobility and Transport and the United States' Transportation Security Administration (TSA), together with the main European and American aviation stakeholders (airlines, airports, retail associations and liquids equipment manufacturers), have signed an agreement increasing cooperation. Thus, based on a previously drafted roadmap, the EU and the US will work together to find a comprehensive risk-based security solution which will facilitate the lifting of the restrictions to LAGs as soon as is practical, while maintaining security and facilitating passengers and trade in international civil aviation.
