Brussels, 07/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) held its Annual General Assembly on 1-6 June in Copenhagen. It was attended by more than 70 member organisations active in this field. The AGM was delighted with “the wind of change that has blown across the southern Mediterranean”. It also paid homage to “the men and women that have risen up against dictatorship”. The assembly notably discussed events in Syria and requested that Tunisia did not extradite to Libya Gaddafi's former prime minister, Mahmoudi Baghdadi.
Michel Tubiana from the French League of Human Rights presided over the meeting, replacing Kamel Jendoubi from Tunisia. An executive committee consisting of representatives from NGOs from 11 countries in the region was elected. (FB/transl.fl)
