Brussels, 07/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said on Wednesday 6 June that her government had, on 31 May, approved an action plan, a roadmap setting out the action each of the governmental institutions has to take, with timescales, in order to comply with the demands set by the EU. “The requirements with which Croatia has to comply in the coming years will all become reality in the third quarter of this year”, she told the 8th EU-Croatia Stabilisation and Cooperation Council, indicating that this “is not an end in itself but a launch pad for Croatia in the EU”. Pusic also said that, even after accession, Croatia would remain firmly attached to the Balkans, and that the stability of the region is important for the stability of the country and for a prosperous future for the region. It is important that regional cooperation is successful at all levels, she argued, pointing out that Serbia, with its newly elected president, is a major player in the region. She said she was hopeful that cooperation in the region and opportunities to deepen this cooperation will only grow. (CG/transl.rt)
