30/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - Committee on organised crime. Membership of the new special committee to investigate organised crime was agreed in plenary session in Brussels, on 29 March. The committee, which will start work by the end of April 2012 and will remain in existence for one year, will be made up of 45 MEPs: 17 from the EPP, 12 from the S&D, five from the ALDE, three from the Greens/EFA, three from the ECR, two from the GUE/NGL, two from the EFD and one non-attached. It will investigate organised crime, corruption and money laundering, and recommend measures to tackle them. The committee bureau, it chair and deputy chairs will be elected next month. (SP/transl.rt)
