Brussels, 16/02/2012 (Agence Europe) - ISO 26000 is the first international social standard from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to tackle the place of organisations in society. In its guidelines, the ISO makes a distinction between the social responsibility of organisations (SRO) and corporate social responsibility (CSR). ISO 26000 covers not only multinationals but any merchant or non-merchant organisation operating in the public or private sector. The aim is to harmonise social, environmental and economic obligations throughout the world in accordance with the conventions on human rights, consumers and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
