Brussels, 21/11/2011 (Agence Europe) - The “Common Front” representing civil servants of the Commission, Council and Parliament, is holding a general assembly in Brussels this Tuesday 22 November to discuss the resumption of negotiations on the reform of the terms and conditions of employment for officials and, if this is not possible, future action is to be taken. Negotiations with the commissioner for administration, Maros Sefcovic, broke down on 16 November. At the same time, 17 member states have published a document asking the Commission to go further in its reforms. “Your mass presence will oblige Vice-President Sefcovic to take serious account of the counter-proposals made by all of the unions to preserve the European public office”, said the Common Front in its invitation to European civil servants. The unions have issued a strike warning from 23 November to 7 December. (CG/transl.fl)
