Brussels, 17/10/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 14 October, the European Investment Bank (EIB) agreed a loan of €100 million to the Spanish energy provider Iberdrola, to help finance its research, development and innovation programme 2011-2014 in the field of networks and innovation.
Iberdrola's RDI programme focuses on the production of conventional energy, transport and the distribution of energy, renewable energy and energy networks. These RDI activities, which will mainly be carried out in Spain and the United Kingdom, are designed to improve the welfare of European consumers. The EIB states that the results of the project should help to reduce the costs for the production and transport of conventional and renewable energy, develop European scientific and technological bases regarding renewable energy sources and related technologies and, finally, improve Iberdrola's environmental performance.
