17/10/2011 (Agence Europe) - 64 candidates for 4 European journalism prizes. The names of the four winners of the European Parliament Prize for Journalism 2011 will be announced on Wednesday 19 October, at a ceremony held in the hemi-cycle of the European Parliament. The panel, made up of three members of the European Parliament and six journalists, will decide from the 64 nominated journalists on the basis of the coverage they have given major European issues or their contribution to a better understanding of the institutions and policies of the EU. The prize, equivalent to €5000, will be awarded by the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, to the winners in the four categories: written press, television, radio and internet. The ceremony will be followed by a roundtable on the subject: “Nothing is Impossible: Reporting on Human Rights and International Conflicts”. (MD/transl.fl)
