Brussels, 14/10/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 13 October, the European Parliament issued a positive opinion by 480 to 69 with 74 abstentions on the Council of Ministers' recommendation to appoint Jörg Asmussen to the European Central Bank's Executive Board (see EUROPE 10471 on the green light given by the EP's economic and monetary affairs committee), to replace Jürgen Stark. The appointment now needs to be formally confirmed by the European Council.
On Monday 17 October, the EP's economic and monetary affairs committee will hold a public hearing on economic governance and crisis management with former ECB Executive Board member Jürgen Stark. (LC/transl.fl)
