On Friday 7 October, Sean Van Raepenbusch, a judge at the Civil Service Tribunal of the European Union since 6 October 2005, was elected president of this Tribunal by his peers for the period running from 7 October 2011 to 30 September 2014. His term is renewable. Additionally, on 6 October, the Court held a formal hearing for the swearing-in and taking up of duties of: - Carl Gustav Fernlund (Sweden), appointed judge to the Court of Justice of the Union on 8 September of this year until 6 October 2012, to cover the remaining term of Pernilla Lindh, who has stood down. - René Barents (Netherlands), Kieran Bradley (Ireland) and Ezio Perillo (Italy), who were appointed judges at the Civil Service Tribunal on 18 July of this year for the period from 1 October 2011 to 30 September 2017, replacing Stéphane Gervasoni, Paul J.
