Encouraging expats to invest back home

Brussels, 29/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - ANIMA a network of public and private investors in the Mediterranean regions, and CONECT, a new Tunisia employers' organisation, opened a MedVentrues Diaspora Business Forum in Tunis on Wednesday to encourage Tunisian expats and people of dual nationality (Tunisia and an EU member state) to invest in their country of origin.

ANIMA says the new political setup in the Mediterranean regions and the hopes generated by the Arab Spring act as an incentive for talented expats to invest in Tunisia's economic development and strengthen ties with their country of origin. The Mediterranean diaspora's talents could play a major role in development, explains ANSA, which aims to determine services, instruments and projects to be supported to ensure the talents of the diaspora are involved. The prime objective is to train 15 start-up companies and Mediterranean business networks, connecting up some four dozen Mediterranean operators with investors, foreign entrepreneurs and business angels from the diaspora.
