30/08/2011 (Agence Europe) - Barroso congratulates new prime minister of Japan. On Tuesday 30 August, the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, sent a message of congratulations to Yoshihiko Noda upon his appointment as prime minister of Japan. Barroso speaks of the ambitious agenda adopted at the last EU-Japan summit on 28 May this year for the comprehensive upgrading of their political and economic relations. He underlines that, as partners sharing the same values and fundamental principles, Japan and the EU have a clear interest in working more closely together on global economic governance, climate change, energy issues and international peace and security, not only bilaterally but also in multilateral fora.
