Loan for SMEs and renewable energy

Brussels, 30/08/2011 (Agence Europe) - HSH Nordbank and the European Investment Bank (EIB) last week agreed two global loans of €50 million each to finance small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and investment in the area of renewable energy.

Under the terms of the agreement concluded on 24 August, HSH Nordbank can offer SME clients low-interest, long-term finance up to a total of €50 million. A further €50 million is available to finance projects by private and public-sector investors in the areas of renewable energy, environment protection, sustainable municipal development and healthcare. HSH Nordbank will pass on the benefits of the global loans to its clients in the form of loans at preferential interest rates, the EIB says in a press release.

This operation meets the EIB's objectives in terms of support for SMEs, protection of the environment and the secure, competitive and sustainable supply of energy. (O.L./transl.rt)
