Brussels, 27/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton has urged harmony in Yemen. The people of the country can no longer be subjected to the current political, economic and humanitarian crisis, which also has serious regional and international implications, she said in a press release following her meeting with Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu-Bakr Al Qirbi in Brussels on Tuesday. Ashton repeated her rejection of any and all use of violence and called on the Yemeni government to work with all parties. She urged the people of Yemen to take forward the country's political transition, the “key point of reference” of which remains the “initiative put forward by the Gulf Cooperation Council” (GCC).
