Five new denominations of agricultural products

Brussels, 27/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 27 July, the European Commission announced plans to add five denominations of agricultural and food products to the list of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI). These are: - for Germany, “Göttinger Stracke” (PGI) and “Göttinger Feldkieker” sausages (PGI); - for Italy, “Prosciutto Amatriciano” ham (PGI); - for Greece, “Arnaki Elassonas” lamb (PDO); - and for Poland, “Ko³ocz œl¹ski” or “ko³acz œl¹ski” cake (PGI). These five denominations are added to the list of over 1,000 products already protected by virtue of the legislation on the protection of geographical indications, designations of origin and traditional specialities (http://www.ec.europa.eu/agriculture/quality/schemes/index_fr.htm ).
