Brussels, 08/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - Almost exactly one year after they started on 7 July 2010, technical negotiations between the Council of Europe and the European Union with a view to EU accession to the European Convention of Human Rights have now been completed. Accession is made possible by the Lisbon Treaty which confers a legal personality on the European Union and which, in its Article 6, defines the legal framework required for signing the Convention.
