In the perspective of Croatia's accession to the EU, a delegation from the EP's women's rights and gender equality committee visited Zagreb on the 16-17 June. This visit was intended to examine progress in policies and legislation on gender equality. The president of the parliamentary committee, Eva-Britt Svensson (GUE/NGL, Sweden) said that she had been “very positively impressed” by the progress made by Croatia with the adoption of legislation against discrimination and in promoting gender equality and tackling domestic violence.
