15/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - Conference on modernising Ukrainian gas transmission system in Kiev in September. Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger and Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko met in Stockholm at the start of the week. Boyko's staff report that they agreed to convene an international conference on modernising the Ukrainian gas transport system in Kiev in September, which representatives of financial institutions and energy companies will be invited to attend. In 2009, the European Commission and the Ukrainian government concluded an agreement with the EBRD, the EIB, the World Bank and the IFC on a $2 billion envelope to support the modernisation of the Ukrainian network of gas pipelines. This financial support was made conditional on Kiev's carrying out reform of the Ukrainian regulatory framework governing the country's gas sector. (E.H./transl.rt)
