11/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Journalist Hartmut Bühl awarded Citizenship, security and defence prize. On Tuesday 10 May, journalist Hartmut Bühl was presented with the first European award for “Citizenship, security and defence”, organised under the patronage of Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, at the 60th meeting of the European Security and Defence Assembly (Assembly of the Western European Union - WEU). The prize was awarded to the editor-in-chief of the magazine “The European Security and Defence Union”, for his strong personal commitment and his small and dedicated editorial team, a WEU press release states. The second prize went to: - the Weimar Club, Poland, for its efforts to guide Polish foreign policy towards Europe; - the Association of the Young Portuguese Alumni for Defence Security and Citizenship (DECIDE); - the EURODEFENSE network, present in 13 EU countries, for organising the Young European Conference; - research group “Security Studies and Defence Policies”, Cátedra Almirante Don Juan de Borbón, Complutense University of Madrid.
