11/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Social partners want to be consulted on socio-economic consequences of reform. The Sectorial Social Dialogue Committee on “Sea Fisheries” has reacted angrily to the fact that it has not yet received any information on the socio-economic impact studies of the future common fisheries policy (CFP). “The integration of a real social dimension in the reform of the CFP in view of achieving sustainable fisheries policy has to take into account the opinion of the Committee”, the social partners state in a letter to Fisheries Commissioner Maria Damanaki. “The Commission is clearly not taking any account of the legitimate demands of social partners from the sector”, state the chairs of this social dialogue committee. They call on the Commission immediately to send them the already finalised impact studies of the CFP reform, so that it can form an opinion. (L.C./transl.fl)
