Brussels, 29/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 29 April, the European Commission announced the appointment of the new head of representation in Malta, Martin Bugelli, who will take up his duties in May. Bugelli is currently Director General of Information, Local Government and Public Consultation at the office of the prime minister of Malta, and is also government spokesperson. He has had a long and varied career within the Maltese public service and in a European context. Bugelli graduated as a speech therapist in 1981 and began his career with the public service in the Maltese Health Department. He holds a degree in English from the University of London as well as a Master of Arts degree in mass communication from the University of Leicester. Bugelli has a wide experience in the Maltese government's communication sector and served from 2004 to 2008 in Brussels at the Maltese permanent representation as attaché, and later as head of cabinet.
