29/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - Loan for Ugandan small business. The European Investment Bank (EIB) decided on Thursday 28 April 2011 to grant a loan of €40 million for the 'Private Enterprise Finance Facility II' (PEFF II), to help five Ugandan banks (Bank of Africa (Uganda), Centenary Rural Development Bank, Crane Bank, DFCU Bank and Housing Finance Bank) grant long-term EIB loans in euros, dollars or Ugandan shillings for investment programmes to encourage the growth of small business. PEFF II follows on from PEFF I, which had funding of €30 million and which enabled 1,700 jobs to be created in tourism, manufacture, the agri-food industry, construction and education. (O.L.)
