Brussels, 28/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, COPA (European farmers) and COGECA (European agri-cooperatives) have announced that on Monday 2 May a seminar will be held at the European Parliament in Brussels on the impact of trade negotiations between the EU and Mercosur on agriculture. COPA-COGECA have announced that speakers will include Jean-Pierre Audy (EPP, France) and Michel Dantin (EPP, France).
COPA-COGECA point out that it will firmly oppose bilateral negotiations for the liberalisation of trade and warn that this will have a devastating impact on the European agricultural sector. During the seminar, the consequences of a potential agreement on the European meat, sugar, fruit juice and maize sectors will be discussed. (L.C./trans.fl)
