21/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - ETNO, for an open Internet. The providers of communications networks and services have fully committed to an open internet and reiterate the major importance to consumers of access to services, applications and legal content of their choice, as laid down in the European directives. This was the response of the association which represents the major European operators (ETNO) to the presentation on Wednesday 19 April by Commission Vice-President Neelie Kroes (digital agenda) of her communication on an “open and neutral” internet (see EUROPE 10362). “It is competition which drives consumer' choice as regards access to the content, applications and services they demand, from both fixed and mobile networks”, said Luigi Gambardella, president of ETNO.
