21/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - Request for bovine meat experts group to be set up. The 'Fédération nationale bovine' (FNB) in France is hoping that the minister for agriculture, Bruno Le Maire, will set up a European level experts group, “with a mandate for proposing concrete measures that provide producers with a number of perspectives”. Their “disastrous economic situation” is due to the rise in production costs and non-remunerative prices, explains the FNB. The agricultural organisation explains that the current economic situation is “largely due to significant dysfunctions in the food chain and market” (deregulation, loss of competitiveness etc). The FNB explains that the experts group would be involved in putting forward structuring measures in the context of “price hikes in raw materials, negotiations on Mercosur and the 2013 CAP”.
