Brussels, 07/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - At a conference hosted by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) on Tuesday 5 April, European data protection authorities adopted a resolution calling for a “comprehensive data protection framework”, which includes the law enforcement sector, says a press release from the EDPS. The central theme of the Conference was the review of the data protection legal framework currently being carried out by the European Commission.
The conference noted that the “challenges are enormous, due to globalisation and trans-border flows of personal data, the development of technology especially in the on-line world as well as developments in the police and justice sector”, the EDPS said. (S.P./transl.rt)
