Brussels, 30/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - The Liberal Group (ALDE) in the European Parliament has called for the organised Libyan opposition in the National Transition Council (NTC) to be allowed to join the international Contact Group on Libya which was set up in London on Tuesday 29 March to provide political oversight of the current military intervention and consider the country's political future (see related article). “There still remains confusion as to the means to achieve a lasting political outcome in Libya. The Contact Group must work quickly to bring clarity and stability to a post-Gaddafi Libya but this can only realistically happen with the full participation of the Libyan Transitional Council. We must end all remaining doubts about the International Community's intentions regarding the country”, said the ALDE Group leader Guy Verhofstadt in a press release issued on 30 March.
