23/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - Bureau meeting of CoR in Gödöllõ. As at each change of the rotating EU presidency, the Bureau of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) meets in the country currently holding the presidency. This particular meeting will take place in Gödöllõ (Hungary) on 3 and 4 March. The first day will see a visit of a waste management centre close to Gödöllõ, joined by the Mayor of Gödöllõ, CoR member Dr Gyorgi Gemesi, and Hungarian Environment Minister Zoltan Illés. The Bureau will meet on 4 March to discuss the future of the area surrounding metropolises and the future of EU policies in the face of social, economic and environmental problems. President of the CoR Mercedes Bresso, and Hungarian Rural Development Minister Sandor Fazekas, will open the proceedings, focusing on two issues - how to boost the connection between rural and urban areas and territorial cohesion, and how to ensure an integrated approach to deal with the multi-faceted challenges facing development in rural areas. CoR Vice-President Ramon Luis Valcarcel Siso will make the closing address. Info: http://www.cor.eu (G.B./transl.fl)
