Brussels, 18/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - The summit of the leaders of the 33 countries of the Eastern Partnership, initially scheduled to be held in Budapest on 27 May, has been postponed until the second half of the year (most likely September or October), the Hungarian Presidency of the EU has announced. The reason for this is “logistical” in nature: France, currently president of the G20 and of the G8, has scheduled the summit of the G8 for 26 and 27 May in Deauville. Additionally, a ministerial meeting of the OECD is to be held from 23 to 27 May. The meeting of the heads of state and government of the EU and the six beneficiary countries - Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Belarus - will therefore be held under the Polish Presidency of the EU, but will be prepared jointly by Hungary and Poland (working together closely with Catherine Ashton and the other member countries) and co-hosted by the two Prime Ministers, Viktor Orban and Donald Tusk, Hungarian Presidency sources explained on Friday.
