17/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Moves on delaying application of emissions standards for certain agricultural tractors. The European Commission has just put a proposal to the Parliament and Council for a directive to defer the date of application of the new stages for reducing exhaust emission limits of certain types of narrow-track agricultural or forestry tractors (Directives 2000/25/EC and 2005/13/EC). After examining the matter, the Commission had doubts over the technical feasibility of the stringent limits planned for stages IIIB and IV for most machines. It recommends a delay of three years in applying the standards for agricultural tractors in categories T2, T4.1 and C2. In the meantime, these tractors should continue to abide by the standards of stage IIIA.
