Brussels, 17/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - A total of €182.38 million from the European Union Solidarity Fund has been proposed to help six countries - Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia and Romania - which suffered exceptionally heavy rainfall in May and June 2010. On Friday 14 January, the European Commission adopted a draft amending budget (No 1) for 2011 covering the mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund for that amount.
The Commission proposes: €105.5 million for Poland, €20.4 million for Slovakia, €22.4 million for Hungary, €5.1 million for the Czech Republic, €3.8 million for Croatia, and €24.9 million for Romania.
The total annual budget of the Solidarity Fund is €1 billion. (L.C./transl.rt)
