The international Quartet for the Middle East (made up of the EU, the United States, Russia and the UN) will be holding its next meeting in Munich on 5 February to examine how to rekindle Israeli-Palestinian talks. The spokesperson for Catherine Ashton, the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, said that, as proposed by Ashton last week, the Quartet will be meeting at the highest level on 5 February on the sidelines of the annual security conference in Munich. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend the meeting with the EU high representative, the spokesperson said.
