Brussels, 17/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the Spanish prime minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, said that eurozone countries would move towards greater common economic and financial governance. He welcomed the EU27 agreement to create a permanent eurozone crisis management mechanism that will be operational in the summer of 2013, describing the agreement as an important step that would enable work to intensify to make progress on economic governance in Europe. He said the creation of a permanent fund was a guarantee for everyone. Zapatero described the role of the European Central Bank as a success in ensuring stability in the eurozone, welcoming the decision to double its capital, which would reinforce its independence and also its ability to take action to ensure stability in the eurozone, he explained.
