02/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - Creation of network of airport police services (AIRPOL). On Thursday 2 December, the EU Council adopted a resolution on the creation of AIRPOL, a cooperation network of police and border protection services in airports. Ministers also adopted, without discussion, a raft of texts: conclusions on making security pictograms easier to recognise, the role of the police and civil society in combating violent radicalisation, detection of vehicles stolen in member states, support provided by the host country in civil protection, a work programme for 2011-2013 to maximise security at international sporting events, Schengen assessments for Luxembourg and France, decisions on illegal trade by air in light and small calibre arms, the automated exchange of dactyloscopic data in Bulgaria, making mephedrone a controlled product and the conclusion of an agreement on visas between the EU and Brazil.
